Basel is changing. Skyscrapers are booming. Switzerland's first vertical city emerges. On 26 walks, Lukas Schmutz records how various personalities closely associated with Basel experience the transformation of the cityscape. Among them are a Who's Who of architects, politicians and urban planners, but also business leaders such as Roche CEO Severin Schwan and city observers from a wide variety of fields, such as the cathedral priest Caroline Schröder Field, the cellist Sol Gabetta, the infectiologist Manuel Battegay and the street worker Michel Steiner.
The routes chosen by the interviewees themselves give the book a personal dimension. Which places were formative for them and which shape them today? What do they think of Basel's new skyline? Basel, unterwegs is an unconventional city guide and an exciting piece of contemporary history.
