Welcome to Times of Change, by Ensemble Anicca.
In this concert we go through three different time periods with three pieces, each bringing different emotions and soundscapes.
We start the concert in the year 1773, with a symphony by CPE Bach, who shows us the extent of emotions one can feel in a matter of minutes: from elation, excitement and laughter, to grief, fear, and anger, all while maintaining an Aritocratic decorum. This is music written to played in the courts of Royalty!
We skip in time, over the Amercian revolution of 1775-6, the French of 1789 into the midst of the Napoleonic Wars. Beethoven Completed his 6th Symphony, titled 'Pastorale' in 1808, bringing to music an Idealist phylosophy finiding beauty and truth in the nature surrounding us. in the 2nd movement we are sitting beside a small stream (Bach), listening to the bubbling water and birds surrounding us. We are tranaposed to a different place, using in full the different colors available to the wind instruments of the time.
Lastly, we are in Leipzig, 1845. We bring pur attention back into our inner world, of Fantasy, Emotions, Memories. Mendelssohn composed for us a story, not to dissimilar to the one Bach has, but so much wider, and perhaps indulgent. our Emotional landscape takes time to change, and with it the music slowly evolves.

About Anicca: Translated as "Impermanence" and "Changeable", Anicca is the Buddhist principal speaking of our everchanging experience of reality. A western equivalent could be "Panta Rhei", meaning "Everything Flows".
